The Amazfit Bip U Pro smartwatch is just $70
The watch, which starts at $70 and includes Alexa, GPS, heart rate, SpO2, a nine-day battery, hundreds of faces, and more, is already a great deal. Father’s Day is approaching faster than you might think: June 20th. If you’re looking for a unique gift idea, I think this is a great option, particularly now that it’s back in stock.
The Amazfit Bip U Pro smartwatch is on offer at Amazon for $70 in-cart today only, while stocks last. It comes in three colours: black, green, and pink.
The Bip U Pro is a more advanced version of the Bip U, which was released late last year. When the Pro is only $10 cheaper (sale prices notwithstanding) and adds one key feature: built-in GPS, there’s no need to buy the latter. It also includes built-in Alexa, which isn’t as essential but can be useful.
A smartwatch can be a perfect addition to your tech arsenal in 2021, whether you use it for activity monitoring or as a less intrusive alternative to your phone. The Apple Watch, on the other hand, could be out of the question if you have an Android phone since it is only compatible with Apple’s iPhone (sorry, Android users). However, there are plenty of other smartwatches that are worthy of consideration for any budget.
Check out our suggestions below if you’re looking for the best Android smartwatch for an Android user. You’ll note that we don’t suggest any Google Wear OS watches for two reasons: We haven’t reviewed many new ones in the last year, and those that we have reviewed weren’t particularly impressive, to begin with. With Google’s acquisition of Fitbit, we expect the company to put even more emphasis on the brand — and its Fitbit OS — in the future. Samsung watches, on the other hand, run the Tizen operating system, which is compatible with Android.
Fitbit Versa 3 – The best Apple Watch alternative
The Versa 3 works on both iOS and Android devices, and you can choose between Alexa and Google Assistant as your voice assistant. It doesn’t have all of the software and smart features that some of its rivals do, but it’s a well-rounded smartwatch with plenty of health and fitness features, such as onboard GPS and live heart rate tracking alerts, to keep you on track.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 – The best value Android smartwatch
For roughly half the price, the Active 2 provides nearly all of the smartwatch features of the latest Galaxy Watch 3, including an ECG app and fall detection. With its physical rotating bezel and thicker case, it’s not as flashy as the Watch 3, but it’s less cumbersome and more convenient to wear at night and during workouts. The Samsung Active 2 can manage calls, emails, and app updates, and it has Spotify support as well as all of the basic fitness features you’ll need for activity tracking. You can also get an LTE version of this smartwatch, which allows you to take calls when on the go without having to bring your Android smartphone with you.
Garmin Venu Sq – The best budget fitness watch
The Garmin Venu Sq is the watch to get if you’re looking for a fitness-focused Android watch with minimal distractions that works for both Android and iOS. It has a built-in GPS, a variety of exercise options, and plenty of fitness monitoring data about your workout in the mobile app, such as heart rate zones and running dynamics. It also functions as a fitness tracker, with high and low heart rate alerts, a detailed sleep analysis, and SpO2 monitoring. It tests blood oxygen levels manually or automatically during the day and night, just like the new Apple Watch Series 6, but at a fraction of the cost. However, there is a style balance. The watch is made of plastic, and the screen on the watch face isn’t as large or as colorful as it should be. The watch has a plastic case, and the screen on the watch face isn’t as large or as bright as some of the other watches on the list.
Amazfit Bip S – The most affordable Android smartwatch
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal than the Amazfit Bip S if you’re looking for more bang for your buck. This $70 smartwatch works for both iOS and Android devices and has the best battery life of any device on this list. It has a heart rate monitor, an always-on display, built-in GPS monitoring, and the best battery life of any device on this list. On a fee, you can get up to 40 days of use. On a single charge, you can get up to 40 days of use, or around two weeks of heavy use with the GPS on and the brightness turned up (a period that’s always better than the rest). However, since it has a plastic shell and the screen isn’t as vibrant or sensitive as watches from Samsung and Apple, you will have to make some aesthetic compromises. This watch, like the majority of Amazfit watches, has a lot of features — some of which are implemented better than others, but overall, it’s a good list. You won’t find an always-on solution here. If that’s essential to you (or Dad), consider the Amazfit Bip S, which has a lower-resolution transflective screen and is currently on sale on Amazon. It does, however, only have about ten sport modes and no Alexa.
None of the Bip models enable you to respond to or dictate text messages, and they don’t detect workouts automatically. The clumsy, sometimes perplexing companion app, dubbed Zepp, is still a thorn in the Amazfit lineup, but it’s far from a deal-breaker. The Bip S has ten sport modes (up from four), a BioTracker PPG heart-rate monitor, and Bluetooth music controls; you can now play and pause music, skip songs, and change volume right from the watch. Battery life has always been a major Bip selling point, and the S is no exception. Amazfit claims up to 40 days of basic use (not hours) and 15 days of “typical” use, which includes features including GPS and automatic heart-rate monitoring. I’ll admit it: I wear an Apple Watch every day, but I turn to the Bip when I fly. Who wants to deal with another battery that needs to be charged? I was hoping for a less plasticky watch style this time, and Amazfit’s companion app is still a mess. The Bip S keeps all that made the original great and improves on it, all while keeping the price incredibly low. Indeed, based on my experience with the Bip U Pro over the past few weeks, it appears to be the star of that lineup. The hardware is excellent, the fitness features are excellent, and the price is almost incredible.
